A Day One Night

Day is so beautiful with his flaxen braid of light.
His eyes sparkle and shine like a gold diamond - bright.
His smile cheers the world around - his laughter on the breeze. Dancing high among the clouds, he capers through the trees.

You cannot fail to see him deep-flaming lovely shroud.
Day wears his charm like a light, imperious and proud.
His gown rustles as he walks a path across the sky,
wrapped in crimson as he turns to kiss the world good-bye.

He dons his velvet jacket and buttons it with stars.
His sunlight eyes close to rest and leave this world of ours.
A swan glides upon the lake, the flowers are in bloom.
Caliginous night drapes the earth with its shadowed gloom.

The feet of resounding thunder stomp across the sky.
Lightning strikes in silver slaps and makes the heavens cry.
I count the raindrops as they fall over house and hill,
over the green grass and the vale and the daffodil.

The pale-faced moon in the sky looks to the earth below,
smears its image over the lake's silent, glassy flow.
The wind-clouds drift across the stars, blended soft and white,
whirl the gusts into a rage until they fuss and fight.

Branches tap against the window, rapping on the pane.
Rat-a-tat, rat-a-tat-tat, and then begin again.
In surprise, I open eyes that closed themselves in rest
and see that Day once again displays his burning chest.

Day is so beautiful with his flaxen braid of light.
His eyes sparkle and shine like a gold diamond - bright.
I cannot fail to see his deep-flaming lovely shroud.
He wears his charm like a light, imperious and proud.

I had One Night Only to find out .
