Fleeting Moment

It was just a fleeting moment
But in that miniscule second
I saw me through your eyes
A soul warming its hands
Beside the flames of passion
A dreamer counting the stars
On heaven's infinite canvas

As my eyes widened I wondered
If you saw my soul look back at you
In the rearview mirror
As dawn turned into day
And the rain began to fall
Did you see me as I did
That moment through your eyes?

For just a fleeting moment
I felt the pull of heaven's call
An awakening of the heart
From a lifetime of slumber
And all the ocean tides
Slapped against the shores
Echoing with applause

For a brief fleeting moment
I felt the world stand still
And every star and every flower
Showed their face to me...
In that very moment I felt
Beauty in its entirety

For the briefest moment
I heard the earth sing
Melancholy dirges for the spring
And seasons yet to come
The sound of flowers blooming
Beneath the solitude of the sun

And its rays etched that moment
Forever in my soul
Searing my heart before the cresendo
Broke and the clouds poured
Their lyrics on my heart
Faint little droplets of regret

It was just a fleeting moment
But a moment just the same
The kind hearts delight in,
Artists revel in, Warriors conquer in,
And I saw it all that day
Looking in your eyes....
