I look into the soul of life . . . 
deep, dark, mysterious - sometimes,
unwilling to open itself to me 
    without a gentle nudge.

I look into the soul of life . . .
   I want to understand today.
     I can never understand 
		     yesterday.
I look and I know that tomorrow
   will positively bring
                 a brighter day.

I look into the soul of life . . .
   it has many moods.
It can be very harsh and cruel.
   I bring that to my own.

I look into the soul of life . . .
   I should know I am only a man.
To control the life of others
            is not for me to do.
   I should not try.
           It is not in my realm.

I look into the soul of life . . .
   it can be very warm and gentle.
From it I can learn many things -
Warmth, determination, strength,
understanding, humility, courage,
            and most of all love.
I should learn to accept it - accept
all that I cannot and should not
                        change.

I look into the soul of life . . .
   I see hope there and maybe
      a picture to understand
    just why I am really here.
But more that that
    who I really am!
